l'Environnement, is organising a two day international conference.
There will also be a special RESTORE EU-LIFE project workshop

Aim and Objectives
The aim is to provide an opportunity to share experiences and to
gain feedback on innovative practical solutions and relevant
applied research on key topics.
The objectives of the meeting will be to explore the key
challenges facing European countries today.
The conference will:
- Consider and discuss the main issues around water management in
Europe
- To provide a platform for a wide range of stakeholders to share
their views and knowledge
- To support future policy development in the sector
- To highlight and share examples of best practice

Topics include water security; flood risk management; water

Directive. There will be case studies from the UK, Netherlands,
Scheldt River Basin and more.
There will be a special RESTORE EU-LIFE project workshop
session focusing on the benefits of restoring rivers for
multi-functional water management and how policy and river basin
management can help to drive this aspiration.

Conference Dinner
The dinner is taking place on Wednesday 22nd
February at Barbue d'Anvers. This is a fantastic local
restaurant and the evening is a great opportunity to talk to other
delegates in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
The conference dinner is priced at 58,03 € (this includes TVA
3,03 €) or if playing in sterling £57.40 (this includes VAT £9.57)
and includes a 3 course meal and wine.

The Venue and Location
The venue for the conference is The World Trade Centre in Lille,
France. This is a tailor made conference venue which is directly
opposite the Lille Eurostar station. Lille is an ideal location for
travellers from the UK and Europe. It is easy and cost effective to
reach Lille direct from London with Eurostar. The average journey
time from St Pancras International to Lille Europe is just 1 hour
20 minutes. You can also easily travel to Lille from other
destinations including Brussels (35 minutes), Paris (approx. 1
hour) and Amsterdam (approx. 4 hours). Lille has a plethora of low
cost, high quality accommodation.

A CIWEM conference with ASTEE and EWA
This conference explored the crucially important issues which
have developed since the Water Framework Directive came into force
in 2000.
Speakers included József Gayer, Hungarian Ministry of
Environment and Water discussing WFD related Public Participation
in Hungary and keynote speaker Peter Gammeltoft, Head of Water
Unit, DG Environment.
