Members in Australia & New Zealand
In light of the recent flooding in Queensland and the earthquake in Christchurch, CIWEM would like to offer its support to all our members in Australasia. The Institution hopes that you have not been affected directly by the events and obviously our thoughts are with you.

Air Quality
Defra announce NOx emission reduction plans will be published in the Spring, following a CIWEM letter to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Caroline Spelman.

Honorary Fellow David Attenborough's Presentation
CIWEM Honorary Fellow Sir David Attenborough is presenting the 2011 President's Lecture of the Royal Society of Arts at 6pm on Thursday 10th March, chaired by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. The event is sold out but you can watch the event live online.

CIWEM's President Runs the London Marathon for WaterAid
Gerard Morris is raising money for some of the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education by running the London Marathon on the 17th April. Thank you for any support you can give.

Conference Outputs Available Online
The outputs, including the speaker presentations, from all CIWEM events are freely available on the CIWEM website. We have just added the outputs from the recent CIWEM Rivers and Coastal National Conference.

Environmental Impact Assessment Online Survey
The purpose of the survey is to reflect on the experiences of professionals with EIA in the past 25 years and also to look ahead to the future role of EIA.

Engineers Against Poverty Coast To Coast Challenge
The challenge will take place from 9th to 20th November 2011 and will involve travelling from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Coast on foot and raft. You will travel through rarely visited regions, through coffee plantations, past smoking volcanoes, through oak forests and deep into cloud forest and dense tropical rainforest before finally finishing on a beautiful tropical beach. Careers Education - Young People Deserve Better
Education for Engineering (E4E), a group made up of 39 UK engineering bodies, has issued a policy statement providing recommendations to Government on how the careers system in England can be improved to ensure young people are fully informed about the breadth of engineering career opportunities available to them.

CIWEM International Event - 'Water Management in Europe'
CIWEM, with the support of EWA and ASTEE, is organising an international event in Lille looking at Water Management in Europe. The aim is to provide an opportunity to share experiences and to gain feedback on innovative practical solutions and relevant applied research on key topics. The objectives of the meeting will be to explore the key challenges facing European countries today. We are currently seeking papers for this event. The call for presentations deadline is Friday 25th March 2011.
