Message from the Branch Secretary
April/May 2013
Dear Members
A belated spring is in the air - at long last.
We have a busy couple of months ahead with two technical meetings,
a conference and awards dinner, the AGM and our branch Annual
Dinner.
We start with the Irwell Water Framework Directive Catchment Pilot
meeting at Salford University on 17th April.
Our big event in April is the Pollution Challenge conference and
awards dinner. This is a joint venture between CIWEM and the
Environment Agency to harvest innovative ideas to tackle urban
diffuse pollution from Universities. These ideas will be presented
during the conference and the winning ideas will be announced at an
awards dinner by Lord Chris Smith, Chairman of the Environment
Agency. For further information please contact Sam
Billington.
On 30th April we will be holding our Annual General Meeting, this
year at Liverpool John Moores University. We will also be holding
the technical meeting on Coastal Management that was postponed
earlier this year.
Our branch Annual Dinner will be held on Friday 17th May. This year
we return to Cranage Hall, Holmes Chapel., following a successful
and enjoyable event at the same venue last year. Our Annual Dinner
is a great opportunity to relax and network with water and
environmental practitioners from across the region. This year the
single ticket price is £65, and bookings from individuals, small
and large groups are all very welcome. A three course dinner,
inspirational speeches and entertainment are all included, so book
now to avoid disappointment! Please contact Hannah Austin for more
information.
Looking forward to June, we have a technical meeting on the
challenges of creating the Canal and Rivers Trust.
As always, keep an eye on the events page for the latest
information.
